     The Big Rideau Lake Association:  A large and sophisticated organization by local standards, the BRLA runs environmental programs using summer students and volunteers to improve the quality of the water and general environment surrounding the Rideau Lake.  The structure that houses the Rideau Lakes Environment & Information centre is owned by the BRLA and serves as it's headquarters and storefront.  Information is provided to local clients and an array of environmentally friendly products are sold at the store.  The centre also served as a work centre and base for 11 summer students hired to carry out a variety of environmental activities in the area.

The Big Rideau Lake Association store, DRY DOCK, is located in Portland, Ontario.

Nestled on highway #15, between Kingston and Ottawa, Portland is a main

attraction for visitors to the Big Rideau Lake.  Tourists and summer residents alike come to Portland to buy groceries, get gas & boating supplies, do banking, buy fishing accessories, visit the Liquor Store, and dine at the many restaurants in the Portland area.

Remember, when you visit Portland, stop in at Dry Dock

( on the corner of Colborne St. & Main St.  between the Royal Bank, and

Foodtown )


Hours of Operation

Spring (May 22 - June 18): Saturday and Sunday 10am - 4pm

Summer (June 19 - September 6):  Daily 9am - 6pm

Fall (September 7 - October 17):  Saturday and Sunday 10am - 4pm
